Recognizing that we are not able to meet the many needs of communities here and abroad, Carlisle Brethren in Christ Church also comes alongside other organizations and supports their work by financial and physical means. These are called Partner Ministries. We encourage you to contact these organizations directly to see how you can be of service to them and our community.

Although there are many good organizations doing great work in their communities, we are currently supporting and partnering with the following areas of ministries and service organizations:

Ministries for Children/files/children pictures/j0202038.jpg

  • Child Evangelism Fellowship
Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) is an interdenominational group that seeks to evangelize children whom no one is reaching with the good news about Jesus. CEF conducts Good News Clubs, 5-Day Clubs, and other activities to lead children to Christ, build them up in Christ, send them out to serve Christ, and connect the un-churched children to Bible-teaching churches.  CEF also provides training and teaching materials for local followers of Jesus who volunteer and lead club activities.
  • Candy Cane Mailbox Bible Club

This ministry is done by many volunteers who send age appropriate Bible lessons out in the mail to many members ranging in age from 6 to 97.  They reach a diverse population in every English speaking country, including inmates, children, and adults.  When an individual begins in the program, they are sent an age appropriate lesson which they complete and then send back to their assigned leader.  The leader corrects the lesson and returns it as well as the next lesson for them to complete.  This continues until they complete that particular unit and receive a certificate as well as a small prize.  Then they are able to move on to the next unit.
Through these lessons, many have come to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.  Currently, about 3000 people receive lessons as member of the club.  Many more leaders and volunteers are needed.  If you would like more information about this ministry or how you might be able to become a part of it, contact Pat James at
486-7255.  You can also request a newsletter which contains many letters from club members to find out how God is working through this ministry.

  • Shack Ministries

Shack Ministries is an after school club for fourth and fifth grade boys and girls where the kids can meet others their own age in a supervised program.  This time will include singing praises to God, snack time (very important), game time, some free time, and most importantly, a time for learning more about God through a prepared Bible lesson taught by Greg Hench or one of his assistants.

Greg is the director of the program and has several helpers who assist him as they minister to a group that can range anywhere from twenty to forty students at a time.  This ministry is held in Greg’s garage which has been specially converted for this purpose.  For more information contact Greg Hench at 243-2257.

Ministries for Youth/files/youth pictures/CoolHats2.jpg

  • Young Life in Cumberland County aims to introduce young people to Jesus through relationships and then desires to help them grow in their faith.  They do that through going to where the young people are, like schools and athletic events and building relationships.  They also hold weekly clubs which are nights of “controlled chaos” and campaigner groups which are for students who want more in terms of a deeper faith.  The hope is then to funnel these young people into local area churches.  Our church’s support of young life helps to enable all of these programs as well as support the leader of Cumberland County, Rich Dargenio.

  • Christian Retreat Center
A Retreat Center located at East Waterford, Juniata County, specializing in summer camps for children and teens, year round weekend retreats, and home to TIMS (Teens in Missionary Service), a short term missions program offering local, inner city and international trips.
  • Priority 1 Ministries                                                                                             Reaching the world for Jesus Christ is Priority 1.  Priority 1 Ministries offers short-term missions' opportunities for youth through adults to make an eternal difference in the inner-city and around the world.

Ministries for College Students

  • InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA® is an evangelical campus mission serving more than 35,000 students and faculty on more than 560 college and university campuses nationwide.  One of those college campuses is Dickinson College located here in Carlisle.  Our church supports this local group called Dickinson Christian Fellowship through designated giving to Kara Miller, the leader for InterVarsity on Dickinson’s campus.  Our support enables Kara to work with students on campus through a leadership team, small groups, yearly retreats, and large seeker oriented gatherings.

Ministries for Singles

  • The mission of New Genesis Singles Ministry is “To provide a Christian environment in which singles in the Carlisle and surrounding areas may find community, social, and spiritual encouragement.”  Those who are single can then meet with other Christians who are also single and develop friendships.  All are welcome.  They also seek to minister to those who have experienced painful life transitions like divorce or the death of a spouse.  Check out their website for more information.

Ministries for Support/Counsel

  •           Capital Area Pregnancy Centers, also called Life Choice Clinics, exist to demonstrate Christ’s unconditional love to those in a crisis pregnancy through spiritual and emotional counseling, material support, and education, thus enabling them to choose alternatives to abortion.  Their vision is to be instruments of God’s love reaching out to those in the Greater Harrisburg area who are at risk of and affected by pregnancy and abortion; through counseling, teaching and witnessing.  The closest clinic, located just down the street from the church on Walnut Bottom Road is always looking for volunteers in a number of different capacities.  Visit their website for more information.
